ABOUT BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY
Banaras Hindu University (Hindi: काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय) (commonly referred to as BHU) is a public central university located inVaranasi, Uttar Pradesh. Established in 1916 by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, BHU is one of the largest residential universities inAsia, with over 20,000 students.
The university's main campus spread over 1,300 acres (5.3 km2) was built on land donated by the Kashi Naresh, the hereditary ruler of Banaras. The Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, spread over 2,700 acres (11 km2), hosts the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (Agriculture Science Centre) and is located in Barkachha in Mirzapur district, about 60 km (37 mi) from Banaras.
BHU is organized into 4 institutes and 14 Faculties(Streams) and more than 140 departments. Total student enrollment at the university exceeds 20,000, and includes students from over 34 nations. It has over 60 hostels for resident students. Several of its colleges, including engineering (IIT-BHU), science, linguistics, journalism & mass communication, performing arts, law, agriculture (IAS-BHU), medicine (IMS-BHU) and management (FMS), are ranked among the best in India. The university is well known for its Department of French Studies. The university's engineering institute was designated an IIT in June 2012.

Following to the recommendation of National Committee of Science & Technology, State Council Of Science & Technology,U.P. was established on 1 of May, 1975 by Govt. of U.P. as an autonomous body registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 by restructuring U.P. State Council of Scientific & Industrial Research; the origin of which lies in Scientific Research Committee constituted under University Grant Commission in the year 1947.
The main aim of the Council is to promote overall development of S&T in the State. Research Promotion; Technology Development, Upgradation and Transfer; Entrepreneurship Development; and S&T Communication and Popularisation are the main activities of the Council.
It sponsors time bound and result-oriented programmes relevant to the state to various Universities,Colleges, Technical Institutions, R&D Laboratories, Voluntary Organisations (VOs) Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and Individual Innovators.
Besides creating strong S& T base, establishment of Remote Sensing Applications Centre (RSAC) Lucknow, Non-conventional Energy Development Agency (NEDA) Lucknow, Regional Science Centre (RSC) Lucknow, Biotechnology Park Lucknow, Science City Allahabad, two Planetaria.. one in Lucknow and other in Gorakhpur are some of main achievements of the Council.

ABOUT VOLUNTARY INSTITUTE FOR COMMUNITY APPLIED SCIENCE - VICAS, ALLAHABAD
VICAS is a non-profit voluntary organization established with a group of rural youths and social scientists in 1987. Vision of organization is to work towards scientific development of rational, non-exploitable society.

The main objectives are to develop scientific attitude in community/common population, Mass action for national regeneration, Integration of education and development, Establishing equality in society for national integration. Strategy and Interventions are need based resource mapping planning and implementation, Mutual participation with the stakeholders, Undertake research followed by feasibility test for implementation and expansion, to develop specifically designed curriculum and conduct technical training for skill building through holistic approach, Create a consortium of
various stakeholders to address specific problems and ensure awareness through mutual cooperation and support to promote innovation and demonstration through community participation, to create an effective model for replication.
